The 2007 Science, Engineering and Technology Summit was the third formal conference organised by the Research Network for a Secure Australia (RNSA) funded by the Australian Research Council. The summit contributed to the RNSA mission statement of facilitating a knowledge-sharing network for research organisations, government and the private sector to develop research tools and methods to mitigate emerging safety and security issues.  The Summit has become an annual event bringing together both researchers and practitioners in the fields relating to the national research priority area entitled Safeguarding Australia.

It provided a forum for the exchange of ideas and research findings between core groups and individuals interested in security technology.
The opening address was given by The Hon. Phillip Ruddock, Attorney-General. The plenary speakers were Professor Rob Evans from University of Melbourne; Mr. Mike Rothery, Chairman of the RNSA Advisory Committee and Assistant Secretary of Critical Infrastructure Protection Branch; and Mr. Paul Murphy from GHD.

The attendees consisted of:

1. 38 Presenters
2. 119 Attendees (of which about 40 were from industry)
3. 51 Dinner Attendees

The conference was well received with nearly 18% said it exceeded their expectations with another 81% said it met their expectations.
